FAQ's

What is included in the rent?

The rent includes all bills, high speed broadband, weekly cleaner for the communal areas and any shared bathrooms and garden maintenance.  You are responsible for cleaning your own room and en-suite although if you wanted to make your own arrangements with our cleaner that is always an option.

There is a small charge for use of the washing machine and tumble dryer. These run on coin meters and typically just £1 will get you a 40 degree wash.

What furniture is in the room?

We provide a bed, mattress and mattress protectors, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside table or shelf unit. Most rooms also have a desk and chair. Additionally, all rooms have TV sockets and most now have USB charging sockets.

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Absolutely! We have high speed broadband available throughout the house because we know you can’t live without it!

Do you take couples, can I share with a friend?

We have a very limited number of rooms that are suitable for couples.  We will always say on our advert if the room is suitable for a couple.

Who lives in the house?

The majority of our housemates are professionals aged 25 – 40. They work in a wide range of industries including Health Care, Software/IT, Engineering, Public Service, Finance, Marketing, Science Research and Hospitality. Many of our housemates are new to Stockport and are looking for like-minded people to socialise with.

Do you do short term lets?

We have a minimum tenancy agreement of 6 months, although we hope you will want to stay longer and most of our housemates do.  In this way we can create a stable home for people who enjoy living around Stockport.

Do you take pets?

No, I’m sorry we have a strict no pets policy.

Do I need references?

Yes, we need to take a previous landlord reference if you have one, along with credit and current employment references. We will also need to have proof of identification and verification of your right to live in the UK.

You will be asked to complete an online tenant information form via our tenant screening service.

How do I take a room?

We like to chat with and meet you before we can offer you a room as we try to fit like minded people together in a house. We will arrange to meet you at the house to show you around to see if the room suits your needs and maybe to meet a couple of the housemates.

Currently in another country or just can't make a trip to Stockport. We can arrange viewings over Skype or FaceTime.

If it works for all of us we’ll ask you for a £100 holding deposit to secure the room and we will stop advertising it. This holding deposit will be deducted from your first month’s rent when you move in.

Can I use housing benefit for the rent?

No, I’m sorry, all tenants need to be in full time stable employment.

How soon can I move in?

This will depend on the date the room becomes available.  However, if it is immediately available and you are able to supply the references required and make payment straight away, then you could be moving in within 24-48 hours.

What if I leave early?

We always ask for a months notice when you decide to leave us.  If you leave within the first 6 months then we will fill the room as quickly as possible to minimise your costs. Our rooms do tend to fill quickly.

Where are the houses in relation to the bus/train/Stockport Centre?

You can see where all our houses are in relation to the town centre and the train stations on the interactive map.

WHAT OUR HOUSEMATES SAY

My 9 months at the property were excellent. All facilities were kept in great condition and any issues were resolved quickly. The best thing about the property, however, was Sally. An honest, caring professional open to feedback and always available when any issues arose. I would absolutely recommend Sally to anyone who wants stress and hassle-free living, without extortionate agency fees.

I only have positive words to say about both Sally and the house I have called home for nearly two years. As a Landlord Sally is perfectly attentive, the house is kept to a 5 star standard and Sally is always on hand if any repairs or issues do arise. Having lived in numerous house shares this has certainly been the best one, the environment is great- full of working professionals- and the standard of the house and the space available is tip top (and having a cleaner come once a week is much appreciated). Thank you so much for making my time at the house so enjoyable and problem free!!
